Wood panels and moldings are available with many different treatments as well as ready-to-finish.

The treatment of the product affects both the visual appearance of the space and the durability and application of the materials. In this blog, we explore different treatment options and suitable applications, as well as go through appropriate further treatment possibilities.

Wood ready

Untreated wood has its own term “ready-to-finish wood”. The term refers to planed smooth wood surfaces that have not undergone any surface treatment. You can treat the ready-to-finish surface yourself in any way you like, to your preferred shade and color.

Ready-to-finish wood products are suitable for both dry indoor spaces and, when properly treated, also for humid areas or saunas. Ready-to-finish is a good option when you want to treat the product yourself to your desired shade or when you want to preserve the natural appearance of the wood. Ready-to-finish is also more affordable compared to pre-treated products.

We recommend treating the ready-to-finish product regardless of the application, as treatment improves the wood's durability. Treatment also prevents the wood from darkening. If you want to maintain as natural a shade as possible, you can choose a clear treatment agent. Remember to treat the panels and moldings before installation.

Description: Untreated wood.
Applications: Dry indoor spaces, properly protected humid areas.
Further treatment: Can be painted, lacquered, or oiled according to your own taste.

White lacquered

CENT products' white lacquered products are pre-treated at the factory with a water-based industrial wood stain that also includes UV protection. The wood grain of the products shows beautifully through, resulting in a wonderfully natural finish. The shade match of the white lacquer we use is, for example, T3072 from Teknoksen's color chart.

The white lacquered product is primarily intended for dry indoor spaces, but it is often also suitable for ceilings in humid areas. For example, if there is mechanical ventilation in the bathroom and the product is not in constant contact with water and high temperatures, it can safely be installed on the bathroom ceiling or the dressing room wall.
A product pre-treated on the surface saves a lot of time and effort. The product is ready to be installed as is, and there is no need to wait for the treatment to dry. A professionally treated product at the factory also guarantees an even final result.

The white lacquered surface cannot be further treated as is, since the treatment agent does not adhere to the lacquered product surface. Over time, possible worn areas can of course be spot painted. If you want to re-treat the white lacquered product yourself, the lacquer must first be sanded off.

Sauna protected

A sauna-protected product is treated with a protective agent suitable for saunas. Thanks to the treatment, the product withstands hot and humid conditions well. The treatment protects the wood from darkening and resin exudation, as well as from moisture and mold.

Sauna-protected products are specially designed for use in saunas, but they are also suitable for other wet areas such as bathrooms. Nothing prevents the product from being used in other interior spaces either. For example, finger-jointed panel treated in tar birch shade is also beautiful in other rooms of the home, such as the bedroom feature wall

Sauna-protected wood can be re-treated over time with sauna protection, which extends its lifespan and preserves its protective properties.

Description: Treated especially for the demanding conditions of saunas.
Applications: Saunas, wet rooms, interiors.
Further treatment: If necessary, re-treat with sauna protection to extend its lifespan.

Thermally treated

Heat-treated wood, or thermal wood, is produced by modifying wood at temperatures above 160 °C. This manufacturing process is completely chemical-free, utilizing high temperatures and steam. Heat treatment improves the wood's resistance to decay and weather, as well as its thermal insulation properties, while reducing moisture absorption.

Heat-treated wood is well suited for both interior and exterior spaces, such as saunas, terraces, and facades. The product withstands temperature and moisture fluctuations well, making it an ideal choice for demanding conditions.

Heat-treated wood does not require further treatment, but we recommend oiling heat-treated products. Oiling improves both the product's durability and appearance. Clear paraffin oil is an excellent option, for example, for heat-treated sauna products.

Description: Wood treated at high temperatures, chemical-free.
Applications: Interior and exterior spaces requiring durability, such as saunas.
Further treatment: No further treatment needed, but can be oiled to preserve appearance.

Painted white

Painted white wood is pre-painted with a smooth and opaque white paint, giving it a neat and finished appearance. This treatment covers the wood grain patterns and provides a uniform surface.

Painted white wood is especially suitable for interiors, such as ceiling and wall panels, where a clear and clean look is desired. It is a common choice for modern and traditional interiors aiming to emphasize brightness and a sense of space.

Painted white surfaces should not be further treated, but can be repainted if the surface wears or if a color change is desired. In that case, the old paint surface must first be sanded off.
